2017 is Looking… Woody
Among the trends noted in the stone and tile world for 2017, wooden mimicry is a recurring look. While this isn’t all that surprising given the popularity of repurposing old wood and including barn boards in modern rustic décor, it’s astonishing to see the way stone is being used to achieve a similar effect.
Long, narrow pieces are allowing designers to achieve such a look, drawing from natural, neutral stone tones. Compared to traditional wood flooring, for instance, “wood-look” stone tiles are being applauded for their durable, long-lasting, and stain-resistant nature. While some might argue that stone won’t absorb noise as well as other materials, the benefits seem to be ruling.
